Lawton Cub Clubs

We are excited to announce the second roll-out of a Lawton Cub Clubs. Cub Clubs is designed to provide school-wide enrichment for every Lawton student. The concept of school-wide enrichment has been widely researched and implemented across the United States by Dr. Joseph Renzulli. Cub Clubs will provide a broad range of learning experiences for all students, based on their individual strengths and interests, focusing on high levels of engagement and experiences to stimulate each child’s interest, learning style, and preferred method of expression.   Each Wednesday from 1:10 to 1:50, all students will participate in enrichment clubs based on Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts/Athletics, or Math (STEAM). These clubs will be known as “Cub Clubs”. The Cub Clubs will be led by our Lawton teachers and staff. Students will be presented with a menu of options describing each cluster. Students will select a specified number of options and will be assigned to one of his/her choices. The clubs will meet each Wednesday through the first semester, which ends in December. In January the students will select a different cluster in which to work for that semester.

Bring Your Own Device

To promote and build technology and digital literacy skills, Seminole County Public Schools and Lawton Elementary School, will permit students to bring their ownelectronic device to school for educational purposes. These devices will be allowed to be used under the direction and supervision of the classroom teacher. School permission forms will be sent home soon for 2nd through 5th graders.
