The Panthers Start Cub Clubs!

As we continue Sailing towards Success, we are noticing the days becoming a little shorter and the air a little cooler.  This along with the community pumpkin patches and seasonal décor found in every store, signals the change of season and helps to prepare us for the fall months to come.  Well, the season isn't the only change that our Panthers will be experiencing here at Lawton!

On October 8th, Panthers participated in our first Cub Club day!  This program was designed to provide school-wide enrichment for every Lawton student.  Each Wednesday, from 8:50 to 9:30, all students will participate in enrichment classes based on Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts/Athletics, or Math (STEAM).  These classes are known as “Cub Clubs”.  Cub Clubs are led by Lawton teachers and staff members.  Students self selected classes from a menu of options and chose three classes that they would be interested in attending.  Once the selection process was completed, students were assigned to one of his/her choices.  The classes meet each Wednesday through December 10th.    After winter break, students will have a chance to select a different class and those classes will end prior to the start of state assessments.

From Edible Art to Birds of Prey, our staff is excited about this opportunity to work with students on a  completely different level!  This brings a whole new meaning to “Finding the Treasure in Every Child.”
