HOME OF THE PANTHERS!

Week of 10/19/26

What a week! Even though we only had four school days, there was a lot going on at Lawton.

We were excited to welcome the Superintendent to our school. We also celebrated three Panthers who were recognized with the SPARK Award. We are proud of the way they represent our school!

Thank you to everyone who supported our PTA Fun Run. We appreciate every donation and all the encouragement from our families. I'm still hoping we didn't hit the $25,000 goal. No offense to the horse, but I'd rather not have to kiss one!

As I visited classrooms this week, I saw lots of students writing, thinking, and working through challenges. They didn't always have the answer right away, but they kept trying, talking through their thinking, and finding different ways to solve problems. It was productive struggle at its finest. Those moments when learning feels hard are often the moments when the most growth happens.

Red Ribbon Week is coming soon. Be sure to check out the flyer below to see how your child can participate.

Teach-In is also right around the corner. We would love to have family members volunteer to share about their jobs, hobbies, skills, or experiences with our students. Please see the information below to learn how you can get involved.

Thank you for your continued support. Have a great weekend, and go Panthers!

SEMINOLE COUNTY TEACH-IN 2026

Parents, community members, and friends of Lawton Elementary School,

Make plans now to be a part of Teach-In on Tuesday, Nov. 17th.  What does it mean to “Teach for a Day”?   SCPS invites you to teach our students through life experiences and opening doors! Share about your job, travel and cultural experiences, or a hobby for one class period or throughout the day.

Teach-In is a perfect opportunity for parents, business leaders, and community members to let students know we care about them. It is simple – join us on Tuesday, November 17th and teach a class or two – whatever your schedule permits. We appreciate you sharing your time and talents with us.

Teach-In highlights the importance of bringing together teachers, school staff, parents, students, and communities in a unified effort to build great public schools. Simply fill out the attached Speaker Registration Form on the QR Code by Friday, November 6th.

You will not regret your decision to be a volunteer teacher during Teach-In 2026. We cannot wait to hear from you!

Sincerely,
Lyssa Marquez
